Intentional Living: Tips to Be Intentional in Everything You Do
If you’ve ever felt stuck on autopilot, going through the motions of life without really savouring it, you’re not alone. That’s how I felt before I discovered the power of living intentionally. Today, I’m here to introduce you to the Thrive Journal, my guided journal inspired by life coaching principles. It’s more than a journal—it’s a tool to help you live the intentional life you’ve always dreamed of.
But before we dive into the journal itself, let’s talk about what intentional living is and why it’s so important.
What is Intentional Living?
Intentional living is all about making deliberate choices to align your life with your values, priorities, and goals. It’s about being present and purposeful, rather than letting life happen to you. Imagine living each day with clarity, knowing you’re taking small, meaningful steps toward the life you truly want. That’s the essence of intentional living.
Sounds dreamy, right? But let’s be real—practising intentional living isn’t always easy. Between work, family, and the general hustle of modern life, it can feel like there’s no room to pause and reflect. Trust me, I’ve been there.
My Journey to Living Intentionally
A few years ago, my life looked very different. I was couch-surfing, feeling lost, and struggling with depression. My relationship with my mother was strained, and at my lowest point, I felt completely hopeless. I even attempted to take my own life—a moment I now look back on with a mix of heartbreak and gratitude for the second chance it gave me.
That rock-bottom moment became the catalyst for change. I realised that if I wanted a different life, I had to start making different choices. I began setting small, achievable goals, creating vision boards, and journaling my thoughts and progress. Slowly but surely, I started to rebuild my self-confidence. Within six months, I achieved a five-year goal: moving to the UK and a few years later after another life altering event, a head on collision that flipped my life upside down, lead to me taking Blissful Type on full-time. In those moments after the car accident, it was the lesson I learnt 9 years ago that kept me going. The the power of intentional living is knowing in all situations life throws your way, you still have a choice as to what happens next.
How to Practise Intentional Living
So, how can you start living intentionally? Here are a few steps to get you started:
Define Your Values: What matters most to you? Family, creativity, health, freedom? Take some time to reflect on your core values.
Set Clear Goals: What do you want to achieve in the next month, year, or decade? Break these goals down into actionable steps.
Reflect Regularly: Carve out time each week to review your progress and check in with yourself. Are your actions aligned with your values?
Create Space: Intentional living requires moments of stillness. Whether it’s journaling, meditating, or simply sipping your morning coffee mindfully, find what works for you.
Be Kind to Yourself: Intentional living isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress and showing yourself grace along the way.
The Thrive Journal was designed with these steps in mind, offering prompts, exercises, and reflections to help you stay on track.
What Makes the Thrive Journal Unique?
The Thrive Journal is more than just blank pages. It’s like having a life coach in your hands. Each section guides you through the process of reflection, goal-setting, and action. Here’s what you’ll find inside:
Stories for Inspiration: Real-life stories (including mine!) about overcoming challenges and defining success on personal terms.
Guided Prompts: Thought-provoking questions to help you explore your values, dreams, and priorities.
Action Plans: Tools to break your big goals into manageable steps.
Reflection Spaces: Dedicated sections to celebrate your wins and learn from setbacks.
One of my favourite parts? The journal isn’t rigid. You can use it daily, weekly, or whenever you need a reset. It’s designed to fit into your life, not add to your to-do list.
How the Thrive Journal Can Transform Your Life
When I was creating the Thrive Journal, I thought about all the tools that helped me turn my life around: vision boards, goal trackers, and journaling prompts. I wanted to put all of that into one place, so others could experience the same transformation.
Here’s how the Thrive Journal can help you:
Clarity: Understand what you really want and why it matters.
Confidence: Build belief in yourself as you see your small wins add up.
Action: Turn your dreams into actionable steps.
Resilience: Learn to adapt when things don’t go as planned.
Mindfulness: Create moments of intentional reflection and gratitude.
